Your adventure begins with a flight to Nepalgunj, a city located in the Terai region of Nepal, near the border of India. Upon arrival at Nepalgunj Airport, you will be greeted by a member of the Bardiya Safari team who will assist you with the transfer to Bardia National Park, which is approximately a 2-3 hour drive from the airport. The scenic drive takes you through rural villages, lush landscapes, and open fields, offering a glimpse of daily life in the Terai. Once you arrive at your lodge near the park, you can relax, enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner, and settle in for the night. Take in the serene surroundings as you prepare for your wildlife-filled journey ahead.
After a hearty breakfast, your adventure in Bardia National Park begins! Your first day in the park is dedicated to exploring its rich biodiversity. You will embark on a morning safari, either by jeep or on foot, depending on your preference and the park's conditions. Bardia is home to a wide range of wildlife, including Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, wild elephants, and various species of deer. Birdwatching enthusiasts will also enjoy spotting rare species such as the Bengal florican and other exotic birds. During the safari, your experienced guide will share their knowledge about the park’s ecosystem, its conservation efforts, and the species that inhabit it. After an exciting morning of wildlife viewing, you’ll return to the lodge for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to participate in an additional activity, such as visiting a local village or relaxing at your lodge. As the evening sets in, enjoy another delightful meal while reflecting on the day’s adventure.
On your second full day in Bardia, you will continue your exploration of the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife. The day begins with a morning jungle walk led by a naturalist guide. This walk takes you deeper into the park, allowing you to experience the flora and fauna up close. It’s a fantastic opportunity to spot animal tracks, learn about the plant life, and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. Depending on the season and the park’s conditions, you may have the chance to spot tigers, rhinos, crocodiles, or a variety of birds. After a packed lunch in the park, you’ll continue your exploration with a jeep safari, heading to different areas of the park to increase your chances of spotting more wildlife. The day will be full of exciting encounters, making it an unforgettable wildlife experience. Return to your lodge in the evening to unwind, enjoy dinner, and share your experiences with fellow travelers.
On your final day in Bardia, you will visit the stunning Karnali River, one of Nepal's most scenic rivers, which runs alongside Bardia National Park. Early in the morning, we will take a short drive to the river, where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, take in the views, and perhaps spot some wildlife along the banks. The Karnali is home to various aquatic species, including crocodiles and water birds, and offers a perfect place to unwind. After your visit to the river, we will drive back to Nepalgunj for your return flight to Kathmandu. The journey back to Nepalgunj will offer you a final chance to appreciate the beauty of the Terai region. Upon reaching Nepalgunj, you will catch a flight to Kathmandu, where your adventure in Bardiya National Park will conclude. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, your Bardiya Safari representative will assist with your transfer to your hotel or onward travel.
