Your exciting wildlife adventure begins with a morning flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. The scenic 45-minute flight offers magnificent views of the Himalayan range and the Terai lowlands below. Upon arrival at Nepalgunj, a member of the Bardiya Safari team will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your lodge near Bardiya National Park. The journey to the park is about a 2-3 hour drive, where you will pass through rural villages and the peaceful countryside. Once you arrive at your lodge, settle in and enjoy a traditional Nepali lunch. In the evening, you’ll have a brief orientation session about the park and the activities you will experience. Enjoy a relaxing dinner while soaking in the natural beauty and calm of the area. This peaceful setting is the perfect introduction to the adventure ahead.
After an early breakfast, your first full day of activities begins with an exciting jungle safari. Bardia National Park, known for its rich biodiversity, offers one of the best wildlife experiences in Nepal. You’ll set off on a jeep safari through the park's vast wilderness, led by an expert guide. The safari will take you through dense jungle, grasslands, and riverbanks in search of iconic wildlife such as Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, wild elephants, and various species of deer. After the safari, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural program where you’ll visit a nearby Tharu village. The Tharu people are the indigenous community of the region, and you’ll have the chance to learn about their unique lifestyle, customs, and traditions. You may even witness a traditional Tharu dance performance, providing a deeper understanding of the local culture. Return to the lodge for a delightful dinner and a relaxing evening.
Today is all about experiencing the park’s wildlife from a different perspective. After breakfast, head out for an exciting jungle walk with an experienced naturalist guide. This walk will take you deep into the park's interior, where you can closely observe animal tracks, plant life, and smaller wildlife that you might miss while on a vehicle. The walk offers a chance to connect with nature on a more personal level while your guide shares fascinating details about the flora and fauna of the park. After the jungle walk, return to the lodge for a well-earned lunch. In the afternoon, embark on an elephant safari. Riding atop an elephant, you’ll have the chance to explore areas that are difficult to reach by jeep. The elephant safari offers a unique way to get close to wildlife, including rhinos, deer, and possibly even elephants. After a thrilling day of jungle activities, head back to your lodge to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on the day’s adventures.
Start your day early with an exciting bird-watching excursion. Bardia National Park is home to over 400 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird lovers. With your guide, head to the park’s best bird-watching spots to observe both migratory and resident species. Early morning is the best time to spot a wide variety of birds, including rare species such as the Bengal florican and the greater adjutant stork. After the bird-watching session, return to the lodge for breakfast. Later in the day, set off to explore "Tiger Land," a region of the park known for its high concentration of Bengal tigers. With your guide, you’ll embark on a jeep safari, searching for signs of tigers and other wildlife like wild elephants, rhinos, and crocodiles. Bardia is one of the few places in Nepal where tigers are frequently spotted, making this an exciting and memorable part of the tour. After a full day of exploration, return to your lodge for a farewell dinner, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the park one last time.
On your final day, after a relaxed breakfast, you will be driven back to Nepalgunj. The scenic drive through the Terai landscape offers a last chance to appreciate the beauty of the region. Once you reach Nepalgunj, you’ll catch a flight back to Kathmandu, where your Bardiya Wildlife Adventure Tour will conclude. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, a Bardiya Safari representative will assist you with your transfer to your hotel or onward travel.
