Upon your arrival in Nepalgunj, a Bardiya Safari representative will be waiting to greet you and transfer you to your accommodation near Bardia National Park, a scenic drive of about 2-3 hours. As you travel, you'll pass through rural villages and expansive fields, giving you a sense of the region’s natural beauty and culture. After checking into your lodge, you can relax and enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner, soaking in the serene atmosphere. The evening will be yours to unwind and prepare for the exciting wildlife experiences ahead.
After a delicious breakfast at your lodge, you will head out for an immersive jungle walk in Bardia National Park. Accompanied by an experienced naturalist guide, you’ll explore the park's diverse ecosystems, from dense forests to open grasslands, and learn about the rich flora and fauna that inhabit the area. The guide will explain the behavior and characteristics of different animals, and you’ll have the chance to spot smaller wildlife and bird species. Depending on the time of year and your luck, you might also encounter larger animals like tigers, rhinos, or wild elephants. In the afternoon, after a relaxing lunch at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a cultural exploration of the nearby Tharu village. This will give you a chance to learn about the local Tharu community, their traditions, customs, and way of life. On this day, you’ll experience the thrill of exploring the heart of Bardia National Park, known as "Tiger Land." After breakfast, you'll head out for an exciting jeep safari with a knowledgeable guide who will take you deep into the park, searching for tigers and other iconic wildlife. Bardiya is one of the best places in Nepal to spot the Bengal tiger, and your safari may also provide opportunities to see one-horned rhinoceroses, wild elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of deer species. For those interested in a different perspective, you may also enjoy an elephant safari, a unique way to explore the park from the back of a gentle elephant. This safari offers a chance to get closer to wildlife, especially in areas that might be difficult to reach by jeep. After an action-packed day, return to your lodge for a restful evening. Start your day early with a bird-watching excursion in Bardia National Park, which is home to over 400 species of birds, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. With a guide, you’ll visit the park’s prime birding spots, where you may observe rare and exotic birds such as the Bengal florican, greater adjutant stork, and various species of raptors and waterfowl. The early morning hours are the best time to spot a wide variety of birds, as they are most active during this time. After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Nepalgunj for your flight to Kathmandu. The scenic drive back offers one last opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the Terai region and rural life. Upon reaching Nepalgunj, you will board your flight back to Kathmandu, where you will be welcomed by a Bardiya Safari representative at the airport. From here, you can proceed to your hotel or onward destination, having experienced the rich wildlife, culture, and adventure of Bardiya National Park.
